In the frame of a PRACTICA partnership with FAO to introduce and disseminate water low cost technologies, UNICEF expressed his interest to contribute and to participate to a training on the Rota sludge drilling method, jointly with FAO.
This drilling method permitted to UNICEF to reinforce the capacities of NGOs partners for the dissemination of drinking water points in the schools.
Three drilling teams has been equipped and trained on the rota sludge method. During this training about 15 boreholes have been drilled near schools.
Based on the first training session new activities have been proposed:
Convinced by the interest of manual drilling the Ministry of Energy and Mine has requetsed a mapping of appropriate areas for the rota sludge method
In a frame of EU water facility project UNICEF has requested the technical support of PRACTICA to train new drilling teams to make 100 water points near new schools built by the government.
